Quick answers for drivers and car park operators

Paying to park

How do I pay for parking?

Search the map by location code (printed on the signs in the car park), car park name or postcode, tap the car park, choose Pay to park, pick the vehicle from your garage and the length of stay, then pay by card, Apple Pay or Google Pay on our secure checkout. Your session starts immediately and a receipt is emailed to you.

Do I need an account?

Yes β€” an account lets us keep your vehicles in a garage so you never retype a registration, and stores your sessions and receipts. Creating one takes under a minute and asks only for your name, email, a password and your first registration.

Where do I find the location code?

It is the number on the BayPay signs in the car park (for example 10241). Typing it into the search box takes you straight to that car park. You can also search by car park name, town or postcode, or tap Near me.

Can I extend my parking?

Yes. Open My parking and tap Extend on your active session β€” pick how much longer you need and pay. The extension starts when your current session ends, so you lose nothing by extending early. We also email you before your session expires with a one-tap extend link (you can switch reminders off in your profile).

What is the service fee?

Some operators add a small convenience fee for paying by phone. If a car park has one it is shown separately before you pay and on your receipt; the fee is set by and paid to the operator.

How do I get a receipt?

Receipts are emailed to you as a PDF as soon as you pay, and you can view or download any receipt from My parking β†’ Past sessions.

Can I get a refund?

Parking sessions start immediately and are non-refundable, except where the app failed to record a session you paid for or charged you twice. Email support with your receipt number within 14 days and we will investigate with the operator.

I paid against the wrong registration β€” what now?

Officers check the registration of the vehicle actually parked, so a session on the wrong plate may be treated as unpaid. Check your registration carefully before paying; if you have paid against the wrong vehicle, pay again for the correct one and contact support with both receipt numbers.

Your garage & vehicles

How does the registration look-up work?

When you type a registration we ask the DVLA Vehicle Enquiry Service for the make, colour, year, fuel type, tax and MOT status, and pre-fill them for you. The DVLA does not return the model, so you can add that yourself. Always check the details before saving.

Can I add more than one vehicle?

Yes β€” add as many as you like. Mark one as the default and it is pre-selected when you pay; you can switch vehicle at the pay screen with one tap.

What is a digital permit?

Some operators issue permits (for staff, residents or season-ticket holders) instead of pay-as-you-go parking. If an operator issues one to your email address it appears under Permits in your account, where you choose which of your vehicles it covers. Officers scanning that registration see the permit as valid.

Grace periods, rules & enforcement

What happens if I overstay?

Each car park sets a grace period after your session expires. Inside it, a scan shows "in grace period" and nothing is logged. Beyond it, your vehicle is unpaid: the operator records the check and may pass it to its enforcement provider, who can issue a parking charge notice. Extending before expiry avoids this.

Where are the car park rules?

Tap a car park on the map β€” its house rules (maximum stay, height limits, restricted bays and so on) are listed under the tariffs. The same rules are shown to officers when they scan.

I have received a parking charge notice β€” can BayPay cancel it?

No. Notices are issued by the car park operator or its enforcement provider, and appeals must go to the issuer using the details on the notice. Your BayPay receipts (with exact start and expiry times) are the evidence you need β€” download the PDF from My parking.

Account & privacy

I have forgotten my password

Tap Forgotten your password? on the sign-in screen and we will email you a six-digit code that is valid for 30 minutes.

Is my card information safe?

Payments are handled by Rapyd, a PCI-DSS Level 1 payment provider, on their secure checkout page. BayPay never sees or stores your full card number.

What data do you keep, and who sees it?

Your account details, vehicles, sessions and receipts. The operator of a car park can see the registration, times and amount for sessions at their own sites. See our Privacy policy for the full picture and how to exercise your rights.

How do I delete my account?

Email {PH("support@baypay.co.uk")} from the address on your account. We close the account and delete your garage and profile; session and receipt records are kept for the period required for accounting.

For car park operators

How do I get BayPay in my car park?

Contact BayPay at {PH("operators@baypay.co.uk")}. We set up your car parks with a location code for your signage, create your operator portal login and agree the per-session platform fee.

What can I manage in the operator portal?

Live revenue (gross, BayPay fees, net), vehicles parked right now, tariffs and any convenience fee, digital permits, house rules and grace period, a watchlist of registrations, the plate scanner, the enforcement list with CSV export, monthly statements and your payout history.

How does the plate scanner work?

Open the operator portal on your phone, choose Plate scanner, allow camera access, line up the plate and tap Scan plate. The registration is read on the device and checked instantly: green (paid, with amount, time and expiry), blue (permit holder), amber (inside the grace period) or red (not paid). You can also type a registration or use a photo.

How do I refer unpaid parking to my enforcement provider?

Every "not paid" scan beyond the grace period is logged under Enforcement with a reference, time, officer and the vehicle’s last paid session. Filter by date and export a CSV formatted for your provider; exporting marks the records as referred so they are never sent twice.

When do I get paid, and where are my statements?

A statement for each month is generated automatically and emailed on the 1st, and every month is available to view or download under Statements & payouts, together with your running balance and payout history. Payouts are made by BayPay to the bank details on file according to the schedule in your agreement.

Still stuck? Email [support@baypay.co.uk] β€” include your receipt number or registration and we will get back to you.
